Guduchi Tinospora cordifolia
Guduchi is a herbaceous vine native to tropical areas of India, Burma and Sri Lanka.
The vine roots itself in the ground and reaches up into the canopy, trailing its so-called ‘adventitious’ roots back down to the ground.
In cross section, the vine looks like a wheel giving it its alternate name ‘chakralakshana’ or ‘sign of the wheel’.
In Sanskrit this innocuous looking dried aerial root is known as the ‘nectar of immortality’.
