Why we’re big on Big Green Week

18th junij 2015

Taking place from 6th to 21s June 2015, Big Green Week is a celebration of the great things Bristol (European Green Capital 2015) is doing to make the city happier and healthier for everyone.

This year Pukka decided get involved in big way. And here’s why.

Pukka’s mission is to inspire people to discover a more conscious life to benefit people, plants and planet. This philosophy starts at the very core of our business and ends up ultimately with the organic and fairly traded teas and supplements which we make.

As an organisation, we want to contribute to a step change in the global problems of climate change, inequality and poverty. The way we do things – our culture – is based on this passion and is why it runs through everything we do: from buying energy efficient equipment, reusing and recycling wherever possible, using sea freight, consolidating deliveries and using suppliers who use renewable energy. And of course all our teas are organic, helping us to give back what we take out during our time here on planet earth. No system of farming has higher wildlife benefits.

In fact, our approach to tackling climate change won us the Innovations Award in the West of England Carbon Challenge. And earlier this year we were awarded carbon neutral status, demonstrating that we have measured our carbon footprint and are taking action to reduce it.

Supporting initiatives like Big Green Week enables us to inspire change. It’s also why we are part of the Bristol Green Capital Partnership, an independent leadership organisation whose aim is to make Bristol a low carbon city with a high quality of life for all. And it’s why we’re a member of Go Green, an initiative to join up businesses and organisations in Bristol and the West of England that are working towards a sustainable future. As a member, we are helping to encourage other businesses to do the same through providing case studies and running workshops on how to work towards becoming carbon neutral.

These are just a few of the many ways we are helping to inspire change.

We believe that winning the climate change battle is everyone’s responsibility. Initiatives that can bring people together to tackle the global hurdle of climate change are more essential than ever before. That’s why we’re proud to be involved in Bristol’s Big Green Week.

Tom de Pass, Head of Communications

I’m Pukka’s Head of Communications. Pukka has many amazing stories to tell. From the provenance and quality of the organic herbs which go into our teas through to the mission which is at our very heart: to connect people, plants and the planet together for a better world. It’s my job to share these inspiring stories, helping as many people as possible on their journey to discover a healthy, happy way of living.
